Number of journalists killed by Israel in Gaza grows

Ramallah, Jul 7 (Prensa Latina) At least 158 Palestinian journalists and media workers have been killed in the Gaza Strip by the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) since October last, official sources denounced today.

According to the Gaza authorities’ media office, five journalists have been killed since Friday in two IDF attacks.

Amjad Jahjouh and Rizq Abu Ashkian, both from the Palestinian Media Agency, and Wafa Abu Dabaan, from the Islamic University Radio, were killed in the Nuseirat refugee camp.

Al Jazeera television reported that Abu Dabaan and Jahjouh were married, and died along with their children.

In the second attack on the Daraj neighborhood in Gaza, Saadi Madoukh and Ahmed Sukkar were killed.

Al Jazeera noted that the war in that territory is considered the deadliest for journalists and media workers in the world.

The New York-based Committee to Protect Journalists estimates that 108 journalists were killed there as of July 5, the highest number since it began collecting data in 1982.
