Road accidents in Vietnam leave more than five thousand deaths

Hanoi, Jul 7 (Prensa Latina) Traffic accidents caused in Vietnam more than five thousand deaths in the first half of the year, a figure almost 12% lower than in the same period of 2023, according to official statistics.

Between January and last June, these incidents cost the lives of 5,225 citizens and the vast majority of the 12,321 accidents recorded nationwide occurred in land transport (12,225), while 66 occurred on railroads, resulting in 48 deaths, and only 27 on waterways, in which 15 people died.

According to the National Road Safety Committee, compared to the first semester of last year, the number of accidents increased by 17,58%, with 1,842 more cases reported, and the number of injured also grew by 39,28%, totaling 9,599.

Based on the source’s information, 1,894 traffic accidents occurred throughout the country, between May 14 and June 15, resulting in 849 deaths and 1,373 injured.
