Ukraine employed units from the border with Belarus to attack Kursk

Moscow, Aug 8 (Prensa Latina) Ukraine used forces redeployed from the border with Belarus to attack Russia’s Kursk region, said the commander of Russia's Akhmat special forces and deputy head of the Main Political-Military Directorate of the Armed Forces of Russia, Major General Apti Alaudinov.

“We are already in the Kursk region with one of Akhmat’s detachments. Little by little we are clearing the ground and expelling the Ukrainian units that tried to penetrate Russian territory,” Alaudinov added on Telegram.

In the officer’s opinion, nothing critical happened and the border guard and territorial units fought the aggressor, who failed to achieve its objectives.

Alaudinov confirmed that Ukrainian troops entered the border areas and occupied several settlements and are trying to advance as much as possible. He also noted that Ukraine is trying to reinforce its troops with units liberated from the border with Belarus.

The Ukrainian Armed Forces recently launched a large-scale attack on the Russian Kursk region; the Russian army managed to stop the enemy’s attack, but the operation to eliminate Ukrainian forces is ongoing.

In July, the chairman of the Belarusian State Security Committee, Ivan Tertel, announced that the Ukrainian government had withdrawn its troops from the border with Belarus.
