Foreign diplomats congrat DPRK on founding anniversary

Pyongyang, Sep 6 (Prensa Latina) On the 76th anniversary of the founding of the Democratic People's Republic of Korea (DPRK), foreign diplomats accredited in this capital sent congratulatory messages to the country's leader, Kim Jong-un.

Military attaches in this nation also sent messages and flowers, KCNA reported.

In the last few days, the secretary general of the Workers’ Party of Korea (WPK) and chairman of the State Affairs Commission has also received congratulatory messages from other countries’ presidents, leftist parties’ leaders, and organizations in solidarity with the DPRK.

The news agency also reported the arrival in Pyongyang of a group of Korean residents in Japan to take part in the celebrations for the Republic’s founding.

One of the first activities was to lay flowers in front of the statues of heroes Kim Il-sung and Kim Jong-il on Mansu Hill in Pyongyang.

A new Supreme People’s Assembly was elected in August 1948, and a new constitution was promulgated on September 3.

The DPRK was proclaimed on September 9, with Kim Il-sung as prime minister.
