The members of the delegation visited the headquarters of the Cuban Institute of Cinematographic Art and Industry (ICAIC), where they were received by its Vice President Yanin Martinez.

The authority explained to the visitors the current development strategies of the institution and its first results.

The group includes Veronica Cordoba (Bolivia), Rogelio Chacon (Costa Rica), Tania Hermida (Ecuador), Jorge Sanchez (Mexico), Ana Maria Garcia (Puerto Rico).

In addition, the Cubans Manuel Perez Paredes, National Film Award, Waldo Ramirez, and Alquimia Peña.

“A real honor for us to evoke the foundation and reiterate our dreams and projects on the threshold of the 45th International Festival of New Latin American Cinema,” ICAIC president Alexis Triana posted on Facebook.

The Latin American Filmmakers Committee was founded on September 11, 1974 in Caracas, as a result of the need to create an organization that would contribute to unify efforts for the development of Latin American cinema.

Since its emergence, another of its goals has been to promote solidarity among filmmakers committed to these interests, some of whom have faced the most diverse forms of coercion and repression over the years.

By that time, in Caracas, over 40 filmmakers gathered to found the organization, which is committed to the defense of the values of Latin American and Caribbean cinema.
