In the last couple of days the flames have swallowed over 10,000 hectares in the Chapada dos Veadeiros region alone and in the Pouso Alto Environmental Protection Area, in Goias.
To prevent further spread, federal firefighting teams, as well as state firefighters have been working in the various affected areas.
Since Sunday, two airplanes have joined the work to control the situation, aggravated by high temperatures and low humidity.
According to authorities, many of these fires were caused by human beings.
Forecasts announce a decline in air quality in many cities, coupled by a heat wave causing maximum temperatures of up to 40 degrees Celsius.
