The workshops are sponsored by the Transcultural program, implemented by the United Nations Educational, Scientific, and Cultural Organization (UNESCO), and financed by the European Union (EU), as part of the activities of the Caribbean Cultural Training Hub, created within the context of this program to strengthen regional young cultural professionals’ capacities and to boost their careers.
The ISA, the Higher Institute of Design (ISDI), the Cuban Fund for Cultural Assets (FCBC), and the San Alejandro National Academy of Fine Arts, offer such courses, which are taught in Spanish with English interpretation for 12 students each.
The courses include teaching Cuban folk dances, silk screen printing, creating dynamic images, preserving paintings, and industrial design. A new round will open on October 7 dedicated to conservative and restorative heritage.
Anne Lemaistre, director of the UNESCO regional office in Havana, among other representatives of the participating organizations, attended the cultural gala at the educational institution’s Main Lecture Hall.
