US blockade causes millions of dollars in losses for Cuba

Havana, Sep 12 (Prensa Latina) Cuba has suffered losses worth 5.56 billion dollars from 2023 to 2024, as a result of the economic, commercial, and financial blockade imposed by the United States, Foreign Minister Bruno Rodríguez informed on Thursday.

Rodriguez presented to national and foreign reporters the most recent report on the effects of the US blockade, stressing that the economic damage suffered from March 1, 2023, to February 29, 2024, represents an increase of 189.8 million dollars over the previous report.

The approximate damage of more than 421 million dollars per month, more than 13.8 million dollars per day, and more than 575,683 dollars in damage for each hour of US blockade.

The damage has exceeded 1.49 trillion dollars in six decades.

The document presented by the Cuban foreign minister will be forwarded to the United Nations National Assembly in October. It details the severe effects of Washington’s siege on the economy and its impact on the population and the development of essential sectors such as health, education, and food.

It also denounces the impact of the policy on Cuba’s foreign trade and international financial relations, which have been severely limited by the sanctions imposed by the US government.
