Moscow, Sep 15 (Prensa Latina) Participants in Moscow in the BRICS Media Summit pledged today to maintain efforts to strengthen international dialogue.

In their final declaration, directors and experts of the group’s member countries urged to promote a comprehensive coverage in their respective media of the interaction within the BRICS and BRICS Plus mechanisms.

They also emphasized to follow up in a targeted manner on the political, economic and humanitarian areas in the respective nations.

The summit participants commit themselves to use their information resources “to help establish a fair and equitable multipolar world order, based on international law and the principles of equality, respect for sovereignty, non-interference in internal affairs and indivisibility and security,” the document states.

They also reaffirmed their commitment to the principles of impartial and fact-based journalism, while expressing their willingness to coordinate efforts to combat fake news.

In this context, and in the midst of the constant siege of media and professionals, they advocated demanding that the rights of journalists be respected in all scenarios and that their safety be guaranteed, with special attention when they are in areas of military conflicts.

They also called for establishing standards and ethical norms for the use of artificial intelligence, and to this end, for a professional and inclusive dialogue. Finally, the participants stressed the indispensable role of professional associations in media cooperation and expressed their intention to continue working together to expand global ties and regional alliances.

The BRICS Media Summit, organized by the Russian news agency Tass with the support of its Chinese counterpart Xinhua, held its debates on the 14th and 15th of this month.

The event was attended by executives and representatives of more than 45 leading media from the BRICS countries, and others who have applied for membership, who discussed the role of the bloc’s media community in strengthening stability and cooperation in a multipolar world, and their contribution to technological transformation on the road to a New World.
