According to the National Disaster Management Agency (Ndma), the tragedy occurred the day before, in a building located in the east of the city, which was used for both residential and commercial purposes.

Authorities reported that six people were rescued alive and confirmed that there are others trapped under the rubble, who have called for help.

The victims include three men and two women, as well as two girls and a boy under the age of five.

As explained by specialists, many buildings in Sierra Leone are poorly constructed and of poor quality materials, so they may be in danger of collapse in some cases.
