Governments pledge support to Lebanon in aftermath of Israeli attack

Beirut, Sep 17 (Prensa Latina) The Governments of Iraq, Jordan and Iran expressed on Tuesday their will to provide medical aid to Lebanon, to treat the thousands of injured by the Israeli cyberattack.

From Iraq, Prime Minister Mohammed Shia Al-Sudani ordered the dispatch of medical and emergency teams to provide urgent assistance and alleviate the pain of the injured civilians.

On a statement, official Spokesperson Bassim Al-Awadi indicated that the Iraqi Government is closely assessing the dangerous security situation originated in Lebanon and the Zionist cyberattack that resulted in the death and injury of a large number of civilians.

The authority pointed out that those developments, in addition to other ongoing threats and attacks by Israel and the threat to launch a full-scale war on Lebanon, are matters that require swift international intervention.

On this issue, the spokesperson stressed the urgency of preventing the situation from sliding into the expansion of Israel’s targeted circle of war for months to come.

On a telephone dialogue, Jordanian Foreign and Emigrants Affairs Minister Ayman Al-Safadi conveyed to interim head of Government Najib Mikati the directives of King Abdullah II to provide all necessary medical aid to treat the thousands of citizens affected in Tuesday’s massive attack.

Al-Safadi reiterated Jordan’s position of condemnation and rejection of any action that threatens the security and stability of the people of Lebanon.

Likewise, Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araqchi reaffirmed solidarity with the Lebanese people and readiness to send all kinds of aid, during a phone call to his counterpart, Abdullah Bou Habib. Araqchi thanked the Lebanese Government for its urgent decision to transfer the Iranian Ambassador, Mojtaba Amani, to hospital and provide him with treatment following his injury.

The Red Crescent and the Ministry of Health announced their readiness to assist Lebanon in treating the injured and transferring them to Iranian hospitals.

On a press conference, Public Health Minister Firas Al-Abyad confirmed nine deaths and 2,750 injuries as a result of the blast of wireless communication devices in the nation.

According to the preliminary balance, the main injuries were to the face, eyes, hands or abdominal area.

On a statement, Hezbollah confirmed that at approximately 15:30 local time, several message receiving devices known as Pagers, in the possession of workers in the various units and institutions of the Lebanese Resistance movement, were blown up.
