Panama is on alert due to a rise in dengue fever cases

Panama City, Sep 17 ( Prensa Latina) Panama's Health Ministry (MINSA) reported that 76 people are hospitalized in the country due to dengue fever, a disease that currently presents a boom in the total number of cases.

The health institution announced that 1,714 persons had been admitted to hospitals as a result of the disease in 2024.

The epidemiological report also states that Panama Metro and Colon are the regions that admitted 472 patients with dengue fever in health centers.

The MINSA added that up to epidemiological week no. 36, the number of cases reported represents more than double of those registered last year in the same period.

Up to date, 32 people have died due to the disease.

The Gorgas Memorial Institute for Health Studies (ICGES) informed us that four serotypes are still circulating in the country.
