Payment in national currencies between Russia and its partners grows

Moscow, Sep 18 (Prensa Latina) The director of the Cooperation Department of the Foreign Ministry of Russia, Dmitri Birichevski, stated that the proportion of mutual settlements in national currencies in Russia's trade with its partners is around 90 percent.

The diplomat noted in an article published this Wednesday by the “International Life” magazine that Russia has not only demonstrated structural stability and flexibility, but has also begun to actively develop new alternative mechanisms for international trade and economic cooperation.

At the same time, a fundamental characteristic of Moscow’s economic diplomacy is that it does not seek a friendship that goes against someone, unlike the West, added Birichevski, who stressed that Russia offers its partners a creative and constructive agenda, and seeks to build cooperation mechanisms taking maximum account of the interests of the parties and contribute to strengthening their economic independence.

“Our efforts are already giving practical results: the proportion of mutual settlements in national currencies is increasing,” the functionary noted.

“In trade with key partners, payment instruments are developed and integrated, logistics routes are built, and mutual investments grow,” declared the diplomat.
