China rejects U.S. bans on bilateral trade

Beijing, Sep 24 (Prensa Latina) China today rejected possible US government bans on the sale and import of connected vehicle software and hardware from China and Russia.

According to Foreign Ministry spokesman Lin Jian, Washington’s discriminatory actions target certain countries, companies and products and violate the fundamental principles of the World Trade Organization (WTO).

He further noted that such measures destabilize international trade and investment, affect the stability of global supply chains, which in his opinion will also harm the interests of the United States.

Lin pointed out that the US business community expressed its doubts about these restrictions and urged Joe Biden’s administration to stop repression against other countries under the pretext of national security.

He also called for the creation of an open, fair, transparent and non-discriminatory business environment for all enterprises.

Finally, he assured that China will firmly defend its legitimate rights and interests.

According to the U.S. Department of Commerce, the measure promoted by the Biden administration would be aimed at countering threats of cyber attacks.

China has repeatedly rejected Washington’s abuse of the concept of national security with the “real goal of suppressing the development” of China.
