The rainfalls are associated with a broad area of low pressure, the weather institution reported.
With a 20 percent probability of change formation through seven days, some gradual development is possible if the system stays over water while it slowly moves northwestward towards Central America.
The report notes that regardless of development, locally heavy
rainfall is possible across portions of Central America later this week.
Meanwhile, weather forecasters are also monitoring a broad area of low-pressure (AL94) located over the central tropical Atlantic that is producing disorganized showers and thunderstorms.
They expect this system to move generally westward to
west-northwestward and environmental conditions appear marginally conducive for gradual development during the next few days.
A tropical depression could form as the system moves near the Leeward and Virgin Islands later this week.
