The Latin American and Caribbean integration bloc stated in a press release that it closely follows the information provided by the Cuban National Seismological Service (SSNC) and “in general, the climatic phenomena that have affected the Latin American and Caribbean region.”
It specified that the SSNC reported two perceptible earthquakes southeast of Pilon, in eastern Granma province, which caused landslides and damaged houses and power lines.
The Alliance´s member states are demonstrating solidarity with a sister nation undergoing challenges after being impacted by two hurricanes. They also support the Cuban Government and its people’s hard work to save lives and restore normalcy.
In less than a month, Cuba was struck by Hurricane Oscar on October 21, with category one on the Saffir-Simpson scale, which caused considerable damage in that nation’s eastern region, and then by Hurricane Rafael on November 6, which hit the western region with category three.
