On his X profile, the head of State wrote, “Happy birthday, dear brother. Amid these very complex days for everyone, have a good day. Lis and I send you a big hug.”
Prieto was born in the western province of Pinar del Río on November 11, 1950.
He graduated in Hispanic Literature from the University of Havana, and has developed an extensive career as a politician, writer, editor and professor.
Among other positions he has held, he was president of the Union of Writers and Artists of Cuba (UNEAC) and was Minister of Culture on two occasions. He is also the author of short stories and novels such as “El Vuelo del Gato” (1991).
