The most recent report issued by the Havana Electric Company states that 89.91 percent of the capital’s primary distribution circuits have been activated, as well as 39 hospitals and nine water supply sources.
The company is also working tirelessly to increase electricity coverage in Artemisa and to reach Pinar del Río, engineer Lázaro Guerra, general director of Electricity of the Ministry of Energy and Mines, told the media.
The executive detailed that Mayabeque (southeast of Havana) is at 89.7 percent, while Artemisa (southwest), the hardest hit by the cyclone, is only at 1.48 percent.
These were the provinces that suffered the greatest damage from Hurricane Rafael.
Guerra said that today they are beginning to heat up substations in Artemisa to increase electricity coverage and also to reach Pinar del Río, which has no damage to the network at the moment but still has no electricity system.
These provinces are supported by contingents from the territories not affected by Rafael in its passage through western Cuba.
