According to the communication of the National Land Agency (ANT), the tenure of 566 hectares was formalized, for the benefit of students, senior citizens and several communities as a whole.
There are farmers who have been tilling their land for more than 20 years without a land title, without the peace of mind that their children and grandchildren are their legitimate heirs’, said the general director of the above mentioned entity, Felipe Harman.
The coordinator of the Territorial Management Unit of the ANT in Boyacá, Leonardo Plazas, commented that the delivery of titles will allow the Mayor’s Office of Soatá, one of the municipalities benefited, to invest in them and thus dignify the life of rural communities.
Another action recently undertaken by the National Land Agency was the founding of a Farmer Reserve Zone (ZRC) that will benefit more than 7,900 inhabitants of 106 villages in the municipalities of La Playa de Belén, Ábrego, Bucarasica and Hacarí, in Norte de Santander, in the northeastern part of the country.
The enclave, which will bear the name of Paz y Unión Campesina del Catatumbo, sprawls over more than 81,400 hectares.
According to the provisions of Law 160 of 1994, the ZRCs are instruments for the social, environmental and productive management of rural property and territory that, thanks to training, organization and community participation, create conditions for comprehensive rural development, within the framework of human rights and peace-building.
