Brazil has more than 7,000 confirmed deaths from dengue

Brasilia, Nov 26 (Prensa Latina) A total of 7,013 confirmed and still under investigation deaths from dengue in Brazil since the beginning of the year reports the monitoring panel of the Ministry of Health.

According to the source, there are more than 6.5 million probable cases nationwide.

Sao Paulo is the city with the most deaths reported in 2024, with 1,923, followed by Minas Gerais (1,100), Paraná (733), Distrito Federal (DF, 440) and Goiás (409).

Combined, the four states and the DF account for 78% of the total deaths.

When it comes to the incidence of the disease, the DF is the zone of the country with the highest rate since the beginning of the year, currently with 9867.7 cases per 100 thousand inhabitants.

Minas Gerais, Paraná, Sao Paulo and Goiás appear next, aggregating 77% of the absolute number of cases.

The age group with the highest incidence of dengue is 20 to 29 years, with 1.2 million, which represents almost one in five cases.

By gender, women account for the majority of cases (55%).

According to research published last week by the Takeda laboratory, responsible for developing the dengue vaccine, 39% of the national population had the disease during their lifetime.
