Zelensky replaces commander of the Ukrainian Army

Kyiv, Nov 29 (Prensa Latina) The president of Ukraine, Vladimir Zelensky, today dismissed Aleksandr Pavliuk as commander of the Ground Forces of the Ukrainian Army and appointed Mikhail Drapaty in his place.

Zelensky wrote on Friday in his Telegram channel that “Mikhail Drapaty was appointed the new commander of the Ground Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.”

In addition, Zelensky appointed Oleg Apostol as the new deputy of the commander-in-chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, Aleksandr Syrsky.

The decisions were made after a meeting of the Ukrainian military leadership. Zelensky did not directly mention the reasons for the reshuffle, but stated the need to “increase the combat capability of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.”

“The main task is to significantly increase the combat capability of our Army, ensure the quality of training of military personnel and introduce innovative approaches to personnel management in the Armed Forces of Ukraine,” he wrote.
