The government official told the press that an Interpol team left Thursday at 05:45 Bolivian time from the San Pedro prison, in La Paz, where the former colonel had been under preventive arrest since 2022, investigated for illicit profits.
Escorted by Interpol agents and by the chief of the Bolivian police, General Augusto Russo, Davila arrived at el Alto International Airport, which he left at 8:45 a.m. to Peru in a Peruvian-registered Iskra aircraft.
According to information, he will remain in Peru until his final flight takes him to New York, where he is due to arrive on Thursday, to face charges from the US’s Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA).
On the 9th of December, Government Minister Eduardo del Castillo told the press that “we are already coordinating through diplomatic channels and once we have the exact date of the extradition, we are going to announce it”.
He recalled that the former Felcn chief is accused of collaborating with an organization that used to refine cocaine produced in neighboring countries in Bolivia, to later export it to the United States, an official investigation revealed.
