By virtue of this approval, the China-Cuba Joint Laboratory of Neurotechnology, founded in Sichuan province in 2015, reaches a higher level that allows it to reach out to the member nations of that megaproject.
These accords have resulted from cooperation between the China University of Science and Technology Electronics and Cuba’s Neurosciences Center.
The laboratory will focus on neurotechnology research, brain-inspired artificial intelligence and non-invasive techniques such as electroencephalography and magnetic resonance imaging, with the aim of becoming an international reference center for public brain health.
The project seeks to consolidate itself as a bridge for scientific cooperation among China, Cuba and other Latin American countries, through prospective innovative alliances in brain science and artificial intelligence.
It will also promote the training of talents, as well as the implementation of research results in the countries participating in the Belt and Road Initiative (BRI).
The project contemplates the consolidation of the global platform WeBrain, aimed at fostering cooperation in neuroscience and the organization of high-level international academic events.
