The Havana embassy here said the contingent is made up of doctors, nurses and pharmacists and will work in different health centers, reinforcing key areas of health care.
The local Health Minister, Cassani Laville, and the Cuban Ambassador, Miguel Fraga, welcome the collaborators and emphasized the importance of their work in this country.
Laville expressed his deepest gratitude to the Cuban professionals and emphasized their commitment to provide quality medical care to the Dominican population.
We appreciate the sacrifice they make by being away from their loved ones, our commitment is to do everything in our power to make them feel well here,’ said the official.
Meanwhile, Ambassador Fraga reaffirmed Cuba’s commitment to international solidarity and cooperation in health, emphasizing the historic role of its medical missions as an example of altruism and brotherhood.
The diplomatic mission recalled that the relationship between Dominica and Cuba has deep roots in health cooperation, which began in the 1990s.
‘The arrival of this new team consolidates the historic ties of friendship and cooperation between the two countries, reaffirming an alliance based on solidarity, mutual respect and commitment to their people’s well-being’, the embassy added.
