The ICG, which includes representatives of Belgium, the European Union, France, Germany, the Netherlands, Sweden, Switzerland, the United Kingdom, and the United States, said it was deeply disappointed by the postponement of the Tripartite Summit between the DRC, Rwanda, and Angola as host, scheduled for December 15.
In a statement released by Jornal de Angola, they called for preserving and expanding progress in the search for a sustainable path to end the conflict while praising the role of Angola and President João Lourenço in mediating a Peace Agreement through the Luanda Process.
The ICG expressed concern over ceasefire violations and renewed fighting in eastern Congo, and called on regional leaders to press for new diplomatic efforts at this critical time and to organize a new round of talks as soon as possible.
