Dominican health services improve emergency response capacity

Santo Domingo, Dec 30 (Prensa Latina) The National Health Service (SNS) of the Dominican Republic today boosted the response capacity of emergency units, to guarantee assistance during the New Year holidays.

The SNS indicated in a statement that actions to reinforce Emergencies include the availability of vehicles, extra beds, additional support of materials and pharmacy supplies, water and fuel supplies and reinforcement of hospital security, in addition reviewing personnel on duty.

SNS’s director, Mario Lama, highlighted the importance of these preventive measures to guarantee the safety of citizens during a time when risks increase.

“The beginning of the new year should be a time of celebration and not tragedy. That is why we have provided all the necessary resources to ensure a quick and efficient response to any eventuality,” he said.

Lamas instructed the directors of the nine Regional Health Departments to supervise the hospitals corresponding to their districts, in the interest that all patients seeking services during the holidays, so that they find safe access to health facilities.

The SNS reiterated that these actions respond to the increase in traffic accidents, alcohol poisoning, burns and other emergencies that are usually recorded during this period.

The SNC is part of the Dominican institutions that work in coordination with the 911 System and the Emergency Operations Center (COE) in the operation “Consciousness for Life, Christmas and New Year 2024-2025”.
