According to the statement from the group, Cuba’s removal from the unilateral, illegal and unethical States Sponsors of Terrorism (SSOT) list represents the triumph of truth and justice over falsehood, arbitrariness and unreason.
“From Panama we reaffirm our commitment to the Cuban people and government to continue to demand the end of the criminal and genocidal economic, commercial and financial blockade, as well as the elimination of 243 sanctions imposed by the United States on the island nation,” the text pointed out.
A message from the Cuban Foreign Ministry noted that despite its limited nature, the measure is a decision in the right direction.
It also indicates that the economic blockade and a good part of the dozens of coercive measures that have been implemented since 2017 to tighten it remain in force, with full extraterritorial effect and in violation of international law and the human rights of all Cubans.
The economic war remains and persists in posing the fundamental obstacle to the development and recovery of Cuba’s economy with a high human cost for the population, and continues to be a stimulus to emigration.
