“In order to do so, genuine international cooperation and the political will of developed countries are required,” added the deputy foreign minister, who is participating in the Meeting on Human Mobility on the Northern Route of the Continent in Mexico.
In the framework of the event, the Cuban official met with Undersecretary for Latin America and the Caribbean Raquel Serur and other representatives of the Mexican Foreign Ministry.
In a message on the same social network, Rodriguez said on Wednesday that the objective of the meeting, being held in this capital on Thursday and Friday, is to “promote a vision and articulated action on the processes of human mobility along the Northern Route,” in order to strengthen coordination and cooperation mechanisms to address the migration phenomenon from its structural causes.
A press release from the Cuban Foreign Ministry said on Wednesday that on this occasion, Cuba would reaffirm its commitment to regular, safe and orderly migration.
Likewise, it will call for cooperation at the bilateral and multilateral levels in this area, based on respect for the purposes and principles of the United Nations Charter and international law.
The delegation is also includes the general directors of Consular Affairs and Cuban Residents Abroad, and of Latin America and the Caribbean at the Cuban Foreign Ministry, Ana Teresita González and Eugenio Martínez, respectively.
