We appreciate the personal efforts and direct involvement of Colombian President Gustavo Petro and his government to have Cuba removed from the arbitrary State Sponsors of Terrorism list, Cuban Foreign Minister Bruno Rodriguez noted.
Their efforts are based on the defense of truth and Latin American solidarity, added the document, which was posted on X and Facebook.
On Tuesday, the Joe Biden administration decided to remove Cuba from that list and adopted two other measures that allegedly reduce the usual hostility of US policy on Havana.
Authorities consider Washington’s decision to be an action in the right direction, although limited and late, to promote the development of respectful relations between the two nations.
They also warned US aggression against the Cuban people and government persists because the economic blockade against Cuba and dozens of coercive measures to reinforce it remain in force.
