Cubans and Chinese citizens honor Jose Marti

Beijing, Jan 17 (Prensa Latina) Cubans, Chinese citizens, and members of the diplomatic corps accredited in this nation paid tribute this Friday to the life and work of Cuban National Hero Jose Marti near his 172nd birthday.

Participants in the activity laid a wreath and white roses before the first international sculpture dedicated to the Cuban Apostle at the Jintai Art Museum, located at Chaoyang Park. During the ceremony, Cuban Ambassador to China, Alberto Blanco, highlighted the universal legacy of Marti, whom he defined as “a man of his time and for all time.”

In his words, Blanco emphasized the transcendence of his political, literary, and patriotic thought, stressing that the hero dedicated his life to the struggle for the independence of Cuba and the unity of Latin America.

Yuan Xikun, director of the Jintai Art Museum in Beijing, recalled the deep cultural ties between Cuba and China.

Yuan also highlighted the museum’s role as a cultural bridge between Latin America and China, with a hall dedicated to historical figures such as Simon Bolivar, Gabriela Mistral, and Pablo Neruda.

Also attending the activity were members of the Foreign Ministry, the Communist Party of China (CPC), the Youth League, the National People’s Congress, the Chinese People’s Political Consultative Conference, the Overseas Chinese People’s Friendship Association, the Ibero-American Chapter of the Association of Returning Students, and others.
