“The undersecretaries of different countries met (yesterday) remotely and there we began conversations to be able to strengthen the strategy, on the one hand to prevent migration through development cooperation, which is the essence of our strategy,” said the president.
“People do not migrate, the majority, out of choice, but out of necessity – she pointed out – and our insistence with the United States government and collaboration with all the governments of Central America and South America so that people can be cared for in their place of origin.”
She stressed the importance of ensuring citizens access to employment, to a safe, dignified and fair life in their nations to prevent migration.
“And at the same time, we must be in communication, in coordination, for any strategy that is proposed by the government of President (elect of the United States, Donald) Trump, between the countries,” she added.
She confirmed the celebration of a remote conference between foreign ministers on Friday and announced the continuity of the work so that there is coordination.
“This is a joint initiative that we had with the president of Honduras (Xiomara Castro) and it was very well received by all the countries,” added the dignitary during her usual press conference, held on this occasion from the recovered port of Acapulco, in the state of Guerrero.
