Russia regains over 60 percent of occupied Kursk territory

Moscow, Jan 17 (Prensa Latina) The Russian Defense Ministry announced on Friday that its Army has retaken 63.2 percent of the territory originally occupied by Ukrainian armed forces in the Russian border province of Kursk.

“The 63.2 percent (about 801 square kilometers) of the Kursk territory, out of 1,268 square kilometers initially occupied by the enemy, has been liberated, the offensive of Russian troops continue in all directions,” the military institution informed in a press release.

The Defense Ministry assured that the enemy is suffering significant losses every day and is retreating from the occupied territories despite transferring additional reserves.

It added that during the first two weeks of January, “the units of the North battlegroup took control of Alexandria, Leonidovo, Russian Porechnoye, and Kruglenke, in the course of the military operations.” The defense institution informed that in the last 24 hours, Ukraine has lost, on the bordering territory, more than 230 military personnel, one tank, three armored personnel carriers, including two American Strykers and seven cars, two armored combat vehicles, and other equipment.
