In this context, he called for prudent handling of disagreements, especially on sensitive issues such as Taiwan, and urged avoiding confrontations and conflicts in economic and trade relations.
According to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Asian giant, Trump thanked the congratulations and valued the relationship with Xi, highlighting that both countries must maintain a lasting collaboration to promote world peace.
On the other hand, the incoming tenant of the White House expressed his interest in meeting with the Chinese president soon.
The leaders also exchanged opinions on relevant international and regional issues, such as the crisis in Ukraine and the Palestinian-Israeli conflict, committing to maintain regular contacts on these matters.
Previously, the Chinese Foreign Ministry expressed its willingness to strengthen dialogue and communication with the new United States government, in order to properly manage differences.
According to spokesman Guo Jiankun, Beijing maintains its focus on developing relations with Washington based on the principles of mutual respect, peaceful coexistence and cooperation for common benefit.
The spokesman announced that Chinese Vice President Han Zheng, special representative of President Xi Jinping, will attend Donald Trump’s inauguration ceremony on January 20 in the United States.
China recently assured that its ties with the United States remained generally stable during President Joe Biden’s four years in office, despite ups and downs.
Guo Jiakun acknowledged that under the strategic leadership of the heads of state of both countries, guiding principles for the bilateral relationship were established and more than 20 communication mechanisms were reactivated.
