Qatar has been making efforts to lift these sanctions since the first day of the fall of Bashar Al-Assad’s government, the Foreign Minister said in a press release.
He pointed out that these punitive measures were taken against the previous government and now they have no logic.
We cannot expect the new administration to respond to international concerns and work for the benefit of its people while the country is under sanctions, the senior official said.
Regarding his recent talks in Damascus, he explained that the new Syrian administration told him that it is working to preserve the diverse social fabric and described as promising the vision of the leader of the new Syrian administration, Ahmad al-Sharaa, on minorities.
On the other hand, he rejected Israel’s ground incursions into Syrian territory and called them reckless.
We stress the need for Israeli withdrawal and that these raids should not constitute a new reality, he pointed out.
