Bolivian activists repudiate Trump’s decision against Cuba

La Paz, Jan 21 (Prensa Latina) A statement by the Bolivian Movement of Solidarity with Cuba today repudiated the decision by president of the United States, Donald Trump, to relist Cuba as a country allegedly sponsoring terrorism.

“This cowardly and perverse decision, without legal basis, is a sign of his evil self, his hatred and his lack of respect for the peoples of the world,” says the statement delivered to Prensa Latina.

The text adds that this retaliation only has the purpose of aggravating the damage caused by the economic, commercial and financial blockade imposed for more than six decades by the White House, with the objective of subduing the Cuban people by hunger and desperation.

The statement recalls that the international community has rejected on numerous occasions this unilateral sanction against Cuba, to which now adds the unjust inclusion of the country in the spurious and unilaterally list of alleged sponsors of terrorism.

Since 1959, the document reads on, Cuba has been instead a victim of terrorism waged by elements financed and protected by the United States Government, and has demonstrated a firm commitment to peace and solidarity on all continents.

“The Bolivian people demand from the United States full respect for the United Nations Charter, the cessation of political and economic harassment against Cuba and the end of all unilateral sanctions that violate the sovereignty of peoples (…)”, the statement says.

The Bolivian Solidarity Movement calls on social organizations, leaders and personalities who believe in the right of peoples to live with dignity and respect for sovereignty, “to speak out against the sick and malignant action of President Donald Trump”.
