Serbia condemns Cuba’s reinstatement to illegitimate US list

Belgrade, Jan 21 (Prensa Latina) The Serbian-Cuban Friendship Association in Belgrade today reiterated its support for Cuba and condemned its reinstatement to the List of State Sponsors of Terrorism, drawn up unilaterally by the United States government.

In a statement, the organization declared that it “joins the libertarian world” to support the Caribbean nation, convinced that the Cuban people, led by President Miguel Díaz-Canel, will preserve the sovereignty and independence of their country.”

It also criticized the decisions of the US president, Donald Trump, regarding Washington’s policy towards Cuba, adopted just a few hours after returning to the White House.

After assuming a second term in the White House, Donald Trump made several decisions that were expected, but which nevertheless provoked fierce reactions throughout the world, the Association’s text states.

One of these decisions is to put Cuba back on the list of countries that supposedly sponsor international terrorism, it notes, and, in addition, it reproaches the inconsistencies of the American policy.

After Biden removed Cuba from that list, it notes, “it took seven days for the American imperialist policy of hegemony and state terrorism to once again show its monstrous, anti-civilization and bloodthirsty face.”

The final act of the tragedy called “American democracy” is unfolding before the eyes of the entire world, it stresses.

“Cuba, as unique and united as it has been for these 66 years, guided by the ideas of José Martí and Fidel Castro, will once again find the strength to resist and win another great victory,” it warns.

Freedom, he says, is priceless and therefore “every sacrifice in its defence is necessary and justified, and represents a heroic act that inspires future generations of freedom fighters.”
