The 2025 seminar continues the discussions promoted last year by the New Paradigms Institute (INP) which serves as the opening of the international debates on Democracy and the Fight against Authoritarianism in the Global South, which will take place this year in Uruguay and Chile.
The objectives are to articulate organizations and social movements participating in the WSF processes and the Forum of Resistances to denounce absolutism, demand the punishment of coup plotters, and develop a common agenda of struggles. In addition, the INP will direct the activities of organizations and movements at the 30th United Nations Conference on Climate Change (COP30), which will be held in November in Belém (northern state of Pará), and the WSF in Porto Novo, capital of Benin, in March 2026.
The WSF was created by social movements and civil society organizations, in contrast to the World Economic Forum, which annually brought together business and political leaders in Davos, Switzerland, to discuss issues of globalized capitalism as an expression of the fight against the neoliberal offensive. The event debates the impact of globalization on people’s lives.
