Bahamas government ready to sign deal with medical guild

Nassau, Jan 23 (Prensa Latina) The Bahamian government is ready to sign an agreement with the doctors' union, a guild that participated in a strike last week.

Bahamas Prime Minister Philip Davis said he respects the work of health workers and wants the best for them.

I respect the sacrifices you make every day. I see them up close: my daughter is a doctor and I know the dedication required.

“When I was fighting Covid-19, it was our doctors who saved my life. That’s why I’m ready to sign a deal. I’m ready for this and moving forward together,” Davis said.

We can’t see signing in and out of the hospital as an act of distrust, it’s about assuring everyone is in our hospitals and clinics at the required time.

It’s vital to know who’s there, and the hours our doctors spend outside their regular hours so they can get what they deserve for their extra time.

“This administration is always on the side of workers, that’s why we’ve been raising wages, promoting public workers, and signing agreements that improve the lives of the working class, and now we’re not going to stop,” the Prime Minister of the Bahamas concluded.
