The head of Cuban diplomacy wrote on X that an example of this is the recent withdrawal of the United States from the World Health Organization (WHO) and the Paris Agreement against the effects of climate change.
The withdrawal of the United States from the WHO and the Paris Agreement demonstrates the current US Government’s disdain for multilateralism, international cooperation and the well-being of humanity, he added.
Rodríguez pointed out that this decision was adopted “in benefit of its absolute commitment to large consumerist and predatory capital.”
Hours after his inauguration for a second term, Trump signed a decree that established the withdrawal of the United States from the WHO, of which it is the largest donor, so it might affect several of the organization’s programs.
He also established the withdrawal of the United States from the Paris Agreement, which will be two decades old this year and aims to articulate global actions to reduce greenhouse gas emissions, which cause climate change.
At each national and international event and platform they attend, Cuban authorities ratify their commitment to multilateralism as the most effective way to confront global problems concerning peace, the economy and the environment.
