Cuba continues to face imperial hostility and maintains as its supreme standard the apothegm of President Ho Chi Minh: nothing is more precious than independence and freedom, the diplomat said in an event to commemorate Cuban National Hero José Marti’s 172nd birthday.
From the American Rome, in the words of Martí, we are attacked again. The new emperor, in his drunkenness, contradicts with a stroke of the pen what his predecessor had finally accepted by force of reason and truth: that Cuba does not sponsor terrorism, he stressed.
Polanco thus alluded to the attack on Cuba by US President Donald Trump on the first day of his new mandate, when he decided, without any pretext, to reestablish the iron measures of economic war that his predecessor, Joe Biden, had eliminated only days before.
The king is naked. His juggling to rule the implausible was exposed. The arbitrary and unilateral way of putting an entire nation in the dock is a mere instrument of coercion and domination, he denounced.
“Our immense gratitude to the Government, to the institutions, to the solidarity of the people of Vietnam, who strongly denounce the abuse and demand the end of an immoral and illegal policy,” the ambassador emphasized.
Polanco stressed that his country has received moral encouragement and material support from Vietnam in the most difficult years to continue to defend its dreams, as this people, whom Martí admired passionately from his horizon in our America, always did.
In another part of his speech, Polanco said that 2025 is the Year of Vietnam-Cuba Friendship and opens a new stage in the exemplary historic ties that unite both nations.
However, the fundamental mission will be that the new generations of Cubans and Vietnamese continue to be moved by the embrace of brothers and achieve renewed achievements for the prosperity and well-being of both peoples, he noted.
The Cuban diplomat pointed out that Vietnam is beginning an era of national rise, in which bold goals and challenging objectives mark the path in the coming decades towards a developed country with high incomes and a socialist orientation. We admire the determination and firmness of the leadership and its people to fulfill such stimulating commitments, only possible with the wise leadership of the Communist Party of Vietnam, which is about to celebrate its 95th anniversary and is an invaluable bastion of national unity.
