In a statement, they branded as arbitrary and unfounded the measure adopted by Trump on his first day in the White House, barely a week after his predecessor, Joseph Biden, announced the withdrawal of Cuba from a mechanism that although it lacks international protection, represents a severe impact in the economic and financial spheres.
Trump’s decision not only ignores the record of Cuba in the service of dialogue, peace and solidarity among peoples, but also constitutes an act of extreme cruelty, they warned.
In this regard, they denounced the financial and economic barriers resulting from the reinclusion in the list of countries that Washington considers sponsors of terrorism, aggravating the already difficult living conditions for the inhabitants of Cuba subjected to more than six decades of blockade.
This measure does not respond to an objective evaluation, only to strictly political motivations aimed at perpetuating a climate of hostility and attack on sovereignty and self-determination, the platform stressed.
