Israeli incursions and shelling violate ceasefire in Lebanon

Beirut, Jan 23 (Prensa Latina) In the final stretch of the 60-day deadline, Israeli forces continued their incursions and shootings in southern Lebanon, in violation of the ceasefire agreement.

According to the pan-Arab Al Mayadeen channel, tanks belonging to Tel Aviv’s army penetrated the western outskirts of the Mais al-Jabal area, with intermittent fire from infantry troops during the raid on several houses.

The national newspaper Al-Akhbar reported that an Israeli drone dropped incendiary bombs on a house on the outskirts of the village of Al-Qantara, causing it to catch fire.

The publication itself noted that the French unit of the United Nations Interim Force asked the inhabitants of Al-Qantara to evacuate the village as an Israeli armored force advanced toward the town from Taybeh.

Yesterday, the Lebanese Army expanded the deployment of its forces to several positions in the areas of Kfar Shouba and Hasbaya in the eastern sector of the southern border following the Israeli withdrawal.

Following the decision taken by the Armed Forces to allow the people of Alma al-Shaab, Al-Bayyada and Shamaa to inspect the villages, the inhabitants of Naqoura are preparing to visit their homes.

According to local reports, Israeli forces are taking advantage of the last days of the truce to intensify their attacks on citizens’ property, public facilities and places of worship.

Since the entry into force of the ceasefire agreement on November 27, the number of Israeli violations of the cessation of hostilities has reached almost one thousand, and its aggressions at this stage have claimed the lives of more than 45 civilians in Lebanon.
