Mexico seeks to promote sustainable economy at Davos Forum

Mexico City, Jan 23 (Prensa Latina) Mexican Secretary of Environment and Natural Resources, Alicia Barcena, will exchange perspectives and action lines for a sustainable economy as part of her activities at the World Economic Forum in Davos, a city in Switzerland, on Thursday.

A press release from her office states that Barcena will attend the meetings “The Opportunities of the Ocean Economy” and “New Agreement on Plastics” at the event.

During her Wednesday speech at the Forum Mexico: Dialogue on the Country’s Strategy, the official presented the Plan Mexico, which aims to increase domestic and foreign investment to promote sustainable development and reduce poverty and inequality.

During the meeting with more than 60 entrepreneurs, she commented that the initiative seeks to attract 277 billion dollars in investments to the country, through 2,000 projects of specific companies that want to set up in the national territory.

“The entrepreneurs were interested in infrastructure, the major projects Mexico is proposing in trains, highways, ports, airports, development poles, and circular economy,” she said.

Barcena highlighted the “enormous interest in Mexico to demonstrate great macroeconomic stability and global resilience in a world of enormous changes and challenges.”
