According to local media, citing the National Communications Authority (NCA), the bans include the TikTok and Facebook platforms, which – they point out – expose South Sudanese citizens to unprecedented levels of graphic violence through the fight in Sudan.
The sources add that recently in several South Sudanese cities protests broke out over the killing of several South Sudanese citizens in the Sudanese province of Al Jazeera, amid clashes between the army and paramilitaries.
Meanwhile, South Sudan is home to thousands of Sudanese refugees from the war in its northern neighbor who faces hunger and disease as humanitarian funding dries up, food rations dwindle and the cost of food soars, say international agencies.
