The newspaper published, in English and Sinhala, the national language, the Cuban government’s statement condemning President Donald Trump’s decision to sign that measure against the Cuban people. It stressed that without any foundation and automatically Trump revoked former President (Joe) Biden’s order to remove Cuba from the spurious list, which means a threat to the Caribbean nation.
In the statement, Havana considered this decision of the new president as a demonstration of imperialist aggression against the sovereignty, peace and well-being of the Cuban population and an absolute disregard for the truth.
It pointed out that the new US president is associated with the groups and politicians that have made aggression against Cuba a way of life, have profited for decades from the anti-Cuban business and now share the new president’s drunkenness.
In this line, it said that everyone has a high responsibility in the difficult economic situation of the Caribbean country and in the increase of the migratory flow from Cuba to the United States.
