“We don’t want negotiations on resolving the conflict in Ukraine to happen behind Ukraine’s back. I firmly believe that the United States will not do that, although I’m not sure it hasn’t happened before. I’m not just referring to Washington, but also to some European partners,” he told Bloomberg.
In unison, Ukrainian Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Economy Yulia Sviridenko told Polish broadcaster RMF FM that Kiev authorities expect a cessation of hostilities in 2025.
“We hope the war ends this year. Kiev believes dialogue with Russian President Vladimir Putin is possible. On the one hand, it is possible, but it all depends on when it occurs. Negotiations can take place when Ukraine is strong enough, and to be strong we need to increase defence production,” he explained.
In this regard, Sviridenko admitted that the Ukrainian government expects the administration of President Donald Trump to actively participate in the negotiation process.
US media details that the plans of the Trump team are at an initial stage and ultimately depend on the US president himself.
