The newspaper Granma reports in its Friday edition that more than 79% of the Cuban population receives water through networks.
In this regard, it adds that as part of the Water Supply Program, 629,7 kilometers of networks and conductors, as well as 89,863 new connections to aqueduct systems, and more than 65,000 electric meters were installed.
The publication reported that a new water station was installed in the capital, named Tulipán Platino.
During 2024, these were the most outstanding data, referring to the 629,7 km of networks and pipelines, when in Cuba, 79,6% of the population receives the service of supplying drinking water through the networks managed by the companies of Aqueduct and Alcantarillado, they reiterated.
According to the National Institute of Hydraulic Resources (INRH), this is due to the lack of infrastructure and the provision of the service by third parties, situations that are expected to be addressed in the Comprehensive Hydraulic Development Program.
In correspondence with the above, the agency explained that, in 2024, a figure greater than 600 thousand inhabitants of the island received the water service by pipe, a figure that decreased at the end of October, given the impact of investment or maintenance actions.
