This was announced by the institution in its social networks just days before the start of the great literary event in Cuba, which will be held from February 13 to 23 at the San Carlos de La Cabaña Military Fortress in the capital, and then will tour the other provinces.
According to Editorial Arte y Literatura, “La Cartuja de Parma” is, perhaps, one of the works that has aroused more criteria in the history of literature.
Italo Calvino called it “the most beautiful novel in the world”; André Gide valued it as “the best text written in French of all times”; Balzac considered it a creation that “expresses the perfection and maturity of a writer”; and Tolstoy was inspired by it to write “War and Peace”.
A novel of love, adventure and unlikely misadventures, “La Cartuja de Parma” tells the story of the young Italian patrician Fabricio del Dongo during the last years of Napoleonic rule in Europe.
