The organization pointed out in a press release that the oil spill constitutes a serious threat to the environment and the people, and called for immediate action to mitigate its impact, according to Correio da Kianda.
Minuto Verde called on the Angolan authorities, the companies involved in the oil sector, and the international community to take rapid measures to mitigate the damage to the marine ecosystems and to the population that consumes fish and other sea products.
It also insisted on adopting actions to prevent phenomena such as this one from taking place.
The spill was detected on January 22 the day before the National Agency of Oil, Gas and Biofuels (ANPG) announced that it was investigating the causes of what happened.
Although the Angola Press Agency reports that it is a matter of small stains on the sea coast of the municipality of Cacongo, in the province of Cabinda, it also reports that they were detected in Fútila, Malongo, Malembo, Chinfuca, and Zenga.
