French association promotes projects to support Cuba

Paris, Jan 25 (Prensa Latina) The association Cuba Coopération France (CubaCoop) highlighted today the progress of socioeconomic support projects, with ongoing initiatives valued at 100 thousand euros.

In a conversation with Prensa Latina, the president of the organization that celebrates this year three decades of work in favor of Cuba, Víctor Fernández, said that the campaigns for the shipment of powdered milk, intended primarily for children and with two containers already dispatched, as well as spare parts to support the electrical energy system, continue.

We are now entering a second phase, consisting of a joint effort with associations from other countries, in line with what was agreed in this capital last November, during the XIX European Continental Meeting of Solidarity, he said.

According to Fernández, given the complex economic situation in Cuba, as a result of the blockade imposed by the United States for more than six decades, it is urgent to combine political support with concrete projects in key areas, including health, energy, food, water and sanitation.

For this reason, we maintain the campaigns for powdered milk and spare parts and decided to join forces with other organizations in initiatives to which we already contribute funds, he explained.

CubaCoop recently contributed 15 thousand euros for a project in the field of renewable energy carried out by Sodepaz, a secular and independent Spanish organization with more than 35 years of work for the development of the peoples of the South.

It also gave 10 thousand euros to MediCuba Europe, a non-profit entity involved in various parts of the continent in the effort to send important health supplies to Cuba.

Today more than ever we need to work together to achieve a greater impact in aid to the Caribbean country, which faces severe limitations due to the US blockade, Fernández insisted.

According to the president of CubaCoop, another line of work of the association is the search for funds in municipalities, cities and institutions of France, a way that has yielded good results recently, such as the support for Cuban athletes who competed last summer in the Olympic and Paralympic Games in Paris 2024.

We will continue to search for resources to materialize more projects, in which citizens also contribute, this year with the additional motivation of celebrating three decades of solidarity and cooperation with Cuba, he said.
